Film ini dibintangi antara lain oleh Hugh Grant sebagai Alex Fletcher, bintang musik pop era 1980-an dan Drew Barrymore sebagai Sophie Fisher, bekas mahasiswa Jurusan Sastera. Film ini menceritakan tentang kerja keras mereka menuliskan lagu untuk penyanyi Cora Corman (Haley Bennett), dan sesuatu telah berlaku ketika mereka berusaha mencipta lagu,..
